ISKCON stands for the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. It is a religious organization that was founded in 1966 by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, also known as Srila Prabhupada, in New York City.

ISKCON is a branch of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, which is a Hindu tradition that emphasizes the worship of Lord Krishna as the Supreme Godhead. The organization is devoted to the practice and propagation of bhakti-yoga, or devotion to God, as described in the ancient Vedic scriptures of India, particularly the Bhagavad-gita and the Srimad-Bhagavatam.

The organization's members engage in various spiritual practices, including chanting the Hare Krishna mantra, studying the teachings of Srila Prabhupada and other Vaishnava saints, offering vegetarian food to Krishna, and performing devotional service in the form of deity worship, book distribution, and outreach programs.

ISKCON has established centers and temples in many countries around the world and has become well-known for its colorful festivals, melodious kirtans (devotional songs), and distinctive style of dress and appearance, including the traditional shaved head and saffron robes worn by its members.
